DAT President remarks evoke PM Skerrit’s response that government does not employ public servants7/20/2016 The Dominica Association of Teachers (DAT) President remarks have evoked Prime Minster Skerrit’s response, that government is not responsible for employing people in the public service.
President Celia Nicholas was urging the government to review the ways in which teachers are being recruited on island. She further stated that government should refrain from putting individuals in classrooms, based on likes or for receiving of votes. But Mr Skerrit insists that employment of individuals is done through the public service commission. He says cabinet's responsibility is to ensure that the Ministry of Education has the resources to pay people employed within the public service.
