DAT President Celia Nicholas, has weighed in on the topic of corporal punishment.
Nicholas states that the use of corporal punishment is situational based on individuals different backgrounds of punishment.
However, she says the danger of corporal punishment lies when it is applied in ways that a child can be harmed.
Reminiscing on her childhood she says that in this generation the level of supervision for children has lapsed. She says that correcting a young child on the street poses a problem as parents tend to rebuke others for their correction before the child. She says these behaviour arms children to their detriment.
