Dominica Central Status Statistics Office is updating the General Public on the ongoing Population and Housing Census. Deputy Statistician Dwayne Dick, along with Mrs. Lorna Prevost-Stephens Acting Chief Statisticians and Census Officer, spoke with Q95 earlier today on their active sensitization drive. Presently the census is on its second stage which is the “listing” stage after the “mapping” stage was successfully completed in 2021. Due to Covid19, there were some delays, however things are going on smoothly. The census mapping included GPS mappings, categorizing / classification of housings; be it residential/business and the like. Presently there are a group of enumerators out on the field collecting data and other important factors to help provide an accurate census. Ms. Lorna Prevost-Stephens. Meantime, Deputy Statistician Dwayne Dick shared a bit more information on the next stage of the census, which is known as the “census enumeration”; a key stage in the data accumulation process, which persons are being encouraged to actively participate in. Deputy Statistician, Dwayne Dick.
