Diabetes continues to be a major problem in today's society and among the leading causes of death in Dominica.
That's according to statistics from the World Health Organization.
The Dominica Diabetes Association held its Annual General Meeting Wednesday and Pan American Health Organization Representative for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Dr Godfrey Xuereb, says WHO statistics published in April show that one in ten adults have diabetes in Dominica.
He says over the last 30 years, the number of persons diagnosed with diabetes has increased.
