Director of External & Institutional Cooperation and Relations of IICA, Beverly Best, says the recently concluded Caribbean Week of Agriculture, raised hope and new energy in the agriculture industry
Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of Caribbean Week of Agriculture 2021, observed the under theme ‘Transforming our food system’ on Friday October 8, 2021, Director of External and institutional cooperation & relations of Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture, Beverly Best, says the week-long events raised hope and new energy within the agriculture industry. She highlighted the timeliness of the activities and the need for transformation of the Agricultural Industry, considering the negative effects of Climate Change and disasters.
Best says time is the ‘silent broker’ and urged leaders to treat ‘solving the issue of food security, as a priority!’
She went on to list some of the main areas highlighted during the Caribbean Week of Agriculture, which when implemented, will see the establishment of a more resilient, stable and valuable Food system throughout CARICOM. Best says IICA supports advancing the collective ideas and will of the Caribbean region, in its contribution to the global food system.
