Denise Charles of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) has emerged victorious in Soufriere/Pointe Mitchel By-election.
She amassed 1342 votes, while Higgs Adams of the United Workers Party (UWP) got 560 votes.

There were 30 rejected ballots and 2 spoiled ballots. Miss Charles in the by- election secured more votes than her predecessor Mr. Ian Pinard of the DLP who received 1326 votes compared to UWP's Higgs Adams who received 822 votes in the 2014 General elections.
Meantime, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says the result of the by-election sends a clear message to the United Workers Party.
