May 18th 2016 will mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth of Dominica and Cuba.
Former PM, Edison James, the man at the helm of the establishment of this longstanding relationship, told state radio Monday, 20 years later he still feels this was a good move.
With the United States and Cuba now having re-established relations after severing ties in 1961, James says he was not concerned at the time with any repercussions especially as it relates to the U.S
Meanwhile, Cuba's Ambassador to Dominica, Juan Carlos Frometa de la Rosa, says he is honoured to be celebrating this 20 years of friendship.
Dominica has benefitted significantly from these relations particularly in the area of education.
