Dominica Fire Chief, Josiah Dupuis believes greater capacity is needed in the fire service, considering the large number fires that are occurring recently, are changing the vegetation of the country
Given the amount of fires that have been occurring recently, we may very well need more capacity, says Dominica Fire chief Josiah Dupuis.
He made that statement in reference to a frequently asked question, which is, “how capable is the Dominica Fire service to deal with multiple fires at the same time”.
He contemplated about having smaller units, and stated that with a modern system, more effectiveness can be accomplished, and Dominica is looking to obtain more, to help with capacity.
He added that there have been 210 bush fires thus far in 2020, and a change in vegetation has been observed in the country as a result of fires.
