The Dominica Freedom party will select a new Political Leader and Executive in the first quarter of 2017, at the party's annual delegates conference. This was revealed in the party's Christmas and New Year's message. The current interim leader is businessman Michael Astaphan.
The message says "The Dominica Freedom Party is ready once again to lead our nation to the path of true success by leading the charge in doing the little things well. We are a party that was built on integrity. And in the upcoming year, the party's machinery will be reenergized."
Meantime, the Dominica Freedom party expressed its concern on the way in which the country's national affairs are being conducted.
It's Christmas and New Year's message said "It is not right that persons are victimized, denied jobs, opportunities for study, or other types of assistance that should rightfully be given, simply because they do not support the political party, or they do not bring worldly pleasure to us."
The end of year statement continued "We do not do well when we pursue prestige ahead of service, we do not do well when we wield power to stifle legitimate voices, and ignore genuine concerns that call for good governance, subvert our democracy, and tell lies to our people to maintain power."
