Dominica is among several other Caribbean islands placed under an immediate drought warning2/16/2016 Dominica is among Caribbean islands that are now under an immediate drought warning, according to the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency – CDEMA.
The Barbados based agency said Monday, last year was the driest on record for the Eastern Caribbean & some other areas, and the 2015/2016 drought situation is similar to the major drought of 2009-2010. CDEMA says drought alerts have also been issued by the Caribbean Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology for several countries, up to March 2016. The other countries include Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Northern Guyana, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and Northern Suriname.
