Dominica joined the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuelan yesterday in celebrating its 206th anniversary of the declaration of Independence.
A ceremony held at the Bolivarian Square in Goodwill, involved the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Dominica, Hayden Pirela and Acting General Manager of PetroCaribe Paul Moses, laying wreaths on a monument. The Dominica and Venezuela flags were presented at the ceremony signifying both countries are “brothers”. Pirela, who spoke through a translator, said there are two special days to commemorate his country’s Independence. He said “April 19th is the declaration of the Independence and July 5th is the signature of the art of the constitution in which we declare ourselves an Independent country”.
