Labour Commissioner, Dr Matthew Leblanc, has accused trade unions on island of misleading the public as it relates to matters before a tribunal. Dr Leblanc says too often there is public criticism of the Labour Division by unions on island which is leading citizens to believe that the division is not doing its job. He says the unions should come on board to assist in the settlement of tribunal cases instead of the unwarranted criticism. The labour commissioner says this is a ploy used by the unions to gain more members. Dr Leblanc says his department is doing its best and makes it a duty to meet with union leaders to discuss the matters before a tribunal and seeks ways to resolve them.
