Dominica’s electricity provider DOMLEC says it is leaning more towards the production of renewable energy.

Meanwhile, no settlement has been secured between DOMLEC and the Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC) as it relates to the percentage to the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) and the return on equity.
Last year the IRC announced that after deliberation and consultation, the commission offered 10.44% return on equity, and 8.56% of WACC to DOMLEC.
However; the electricity company asked for 14.5% return on equity, and 11.6% of WACC instead. The matter was then taken to court.
However, in keeping with this statement from the Public Relations Officer of DOMLEC, Adina Bellot-Valentine, the matter is still pending.
