DOMLEC says its hydro-generating capacity has been cut by 50 percent as a result of a broken section of the hydro-pipeline running from the freshwater lake to the Laudat Power Station. According to DOMLEC'S Generation Manager, Dave Stamp, the damage was caused by a stream which eroded the foundation of that pipe support over the weekend. This resulted in the loss of service at the Laudat Power Station and the reduction in the output of the hydro plants at Trafalgar and Padu. Addressing media on Tuesday, Stamp says the situation is further compounded as two of the company's critical diesel units are currently out of service. However, in a bid to avoid disruption to its customers, he says they will be implementing programs to manage generation. Stamp says they are confident that situation will be under control within the next eight days.
