General Secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union, Thomas Letang, has called for greater efforts to be made by Government to motivate public officers.
His statement follows calls by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit for greater commitment and increased levels of efficiency from public officers.
Letang made specific mention of the issue of high levels of acting positions within the public service.
" We need to look at the whole issue where public officers have been in temporary positions for a number of years and not being appointed" he said.
The DPSU General Secretary says this has serious implications for the terminal benefits of officers when leaving the service.
