Economist Dr Thomson Fontaine says he is awaiting a formal response from the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) – the Final appellate court for Dominica – following the request of the legal representatives of Roosevelt Skerrit and others involved in the CCJ’s ruling on the 2014 Election Treating Case which was handed down on March 9, 2021.
the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) dismissed the strike out appeal in the matter of Roosevelt Skerrit & Ors v Antoine Defoe & Ors  and affirmed the order of the Court of Appeal reinstating the Magistrate’s summonses for the appellants to appear to answer the election charge of treating go forward.
Treating refers to directly or indirectly providing food, drink, or entertainment to a person, during or after an election with the aim of corruptly influencing that person’s vote. The Court heard the appeal on December 10, 2020.
