Economist and DFP Leader, Kent Vital says there appears to be a massive misappropriation of resources and pursuit of self-interest over the interest of the country
Referencing the 2020/2021 Nation Budget presented in Parliament by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Economist and DFP leader, Kent Vital expressed the view on the Global View on Q hosted by Sheridan Gregoire (Mr. G), that the DLP government either does not understand the planning mechanism or, if they do understand, they are purposefully “not doing the right thing”, andinstead, they are doing what it takes to pursue their own self-interest over the interest of the country. He says there is a lack of effective implementation of budget ideas or plans. Vital also claims public officers appear unmotivated because of the political nature of the policy directions from the Policy directorate.
Vital says the government cannot seem to attract significant financing beyond funds from multilateral organizations and therefore have to resort to the CBI.He asserted there appears to be a massive misappropriation of resources.
The economist says the government has done the little things but not the "transformational things". And though mention is made, intentions are indicated and funds are allocated to these "transformational things" in national budgets, Vital contends that they do not come to fruition. He claims if they do, however, they still do not produce the required results.
