The Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications authority (ECTEL) will host a one day regional stakeholder group consultation workshop on April 14, 2016 in St Lucia, where regional participants will join via webinar.
According to a release the workshop will focus on the new draft regulations: (i)Sharing of Infrastructure and wholesale services, (ii) Access to essential facilities and cable landing stations, (iii) retail pricing, (iv) Consumer protection, (v) infrastructure sharing and (vi) Assessment of market power. The consultation workshop is said to form part of a series of activities which are being undertaken this week in St. Lucia. The other events to take place are the 74th meeting of the board of directors, the 33rd meeting of the ECTEL council of ministers and the fourth regulatory seminar for Telecommunications ministers of the Eastern Caribbean. ECTEL began in 2000 to regulate the telecommunications sector in Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The Governments of Antigua and Barbuda and Montserrat have been participating as observers, in the deliberations of the ECTEL council from 2012....
