National Authorizing Officer for the European Union Carleen Roberts says the EU is committed towards assisting Dominica in its ongoing fight against the black sigatoka disease. On Monday fertilizers and oil amounting to some 2.3M dollars were handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The 20,000 bags of fertilizers for the banana and plantain sub-sector and the 34,000 gallons of oil for the maintenance of the black sigatoka disease were provided from the NAO’s office under the banana Accompanying Measures Program (BAM).
Roberts says the EU has supported, and will continue supporting the chemical treatment of the Black Sigatoka.
