Family of first Prime Minister Patrick John concerned that he was not yet allocated a bed at the PMH
Family of first Prime Minister Patrick John are surprised & concerned that he was not allocated a bed at the PMH, several hours after he arrived on the island from Martinique, where he had received medical treatment. John arrived in Dominica at 3:15 pm on Monday. He was transported to the PMH via ambulance. However, he reportedly spent the entire night in the casualty department, up to this morning, reports indicate he had not been moved to a bed in the main Ward.
Reports also indicate that John received sanitary care by family members in the emergency department, with very little privacy. One family member said “It is heartbreaking”, adding that the situation is tantamount to ‘punishment.’
John was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital for heart problems on November 29, 2015, and was discharged on December 30. He was again taken to the institution on 3rd January after he complained of shortness of breath. He was subsequently flown to Martinique.
