Former Agri Minister advising Government to consider the benefits of an Agriculture Research Facility
Former Agriculture Minister in the DLP Administration, Atherton Martin, wants to know “What is currently in place to ensure that research is done in the Agriculture sector, and whether the information obtained from any such research is disseminated to the farmers”
Martin believes the research methods which existed in previous years, worked wonders for Dominica’s Agricultural industry, and he is of the view that these internationally proven strategies which were once spearheaded by competent individuals, have been neglected by the current Government.
Martin is of the view that research is essential to the farmer’s success on the farm. He says an effective research team needs to be formed, to ensure that all the modern techniques and strategies are taught to the farmers, as this will ensure the success of high quality crops for harvesting and for export.
