Former Government productivity consultant Parry Bellot insists that farmers have not responded to attempts made by the DLP government to improve the agricultural industry. Bellot argues that serious people do not blame the Government for the banana industry’s current position. He says the arguments coming from critics including the opposition that the government should do more, is unfounded, because they do not realize that more can only be done when there are resources available to do more. Bellot says rather than blame government for everything, initiative must be taken by the Private Sector in order to move the country forward.
He says while the Government has to do its part, a country only moves forward when its people move forward.
