The Government of Japan has invested $1.5 million into Dominica’s fisheries sector.
This money will be used for the replacement of refrigeration equipment at the fisheries complex in Roseau and Portsmouth.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, Harold Guiste, says although the equipment being replaced is still working, they have reached their expected life span.
He says that’s the opinion of the country’s Japanese partners.
Guiste says it is essential that only the best quality of fish leaves the country.
