Dominica Coconut Products (DCP) may be under new local management, after negotiations with Colgate Palmolive are finalized. That’s word from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
Dominica faced the wrath of Tropical Storm Erika in 2015, during which the country suffered major setbacks to its economy, and the DCP factory close its doors, reportedly due to irrevocable damage suffered during the storm. Government had expressed its intent to acquire the plant, however at a press conference held earlier today, prime minister Skerrit revealed that a local investor expressed interest in the facility. PM Skerrit went on to say that Government intends to aid the individual in funding the operation, provided he continued manufacturing soaps.
