The island's Ministry of Health is expressing concern over high levels in hypertension, obesity and diabetes here.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. David Johnson, speaking during the launch of Caribbean Wellness Day at the weekend, said Dominica is now faced with the worst epidemic of Chronic non-communicable diseases.
According to statistics, one in every four persons attending clinics are suffering from hypertension while over ten percent of children aged zero to five is suffering from obesity.
Meanwhile Dr. Johnson says injuries as a result of vehicular accidents is the number one cause of death among persons aged 15 to 24 years.
