Health officials on island say greater sensitization is needed as it relates to the spread of the Zika virus.
This is especially so among the men on island as Zika affects both male and female.
However; the focus has been centred mainly on women, particularly pregnant women.
However; Dr Binta Lambert says men need to be more informed about the Zika virus as it is also transmitted through sexual intercourse.
Dr Lambert says while it has not been proven that Zika can be transmitted through blood transfusion, there have been cases where the Zika virus has been identified in blood donors.
