Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton, says after 38 years as an independent nation, the ruling DLP continues to insist that Dominica’s electoral system should only be reformed to legitimize the corrupt practices of bribery, treating, denial of media access to the opposition, outrageous campaign spending from questionable sources and illegal overseas voting that it has engaged to secure re-election.
Linton made these comments while delivering his independence message on Thursday.
The United Workers Party have made numerous calls for the implementation of electoral reform here in a bid to ensure free and fair elections but to no avail.
While Dominicans are being called on to strengthen their commitment to nation building, Linton says "we have serious nation building problems that will not be solved by ignoring them or pretending they don’t exist".
