The Ministry of the Kalinago Affairs in collaboration with the Kalinago council Friday officially launched ‘Kalinago week 2016’ under the theme "Kalinago Forever, defeat never, embracing our Kalinago Heritage."
Project officer at the Ministry of Kalinago Affairs Cozier Frederick says Kalinago week 2016 is aimed at commemorating the history of the Kalinago people, as well as its significant past leaders.
Frederick made these remarks while addressing the opening ceremony.
Frederick says the Kalinago heritage is important to Dominica, as it can be found in all aspects of the Country's heritage.

The activities will run from 16th September with a media address, and will culminate with a World Rivers Day celebration on 25th September.
Some of the activities making the week include, a Miss Kalinago show, an ecumenical service, Kalinago food day, and a panel discussion on the rights of indigenous people.
