Lighthouse Christian Academy, PSS and St. Mary’s Academy dominated in the recent Math Power Contest4/21/2016 Lighthouse Christian Academy, Portsmouth Secondary School (PSS) and the St. Mary’s Academy dominated, in the 2016 National Math Power Contest, held at the Arawak House of Culture on Wednesday.
In the primary schools’ category of the finals, The Lighthouse Christian Academy emerged victorious, and received $800. St John’s Primary placed second and won $500. In the lower secondary category, the Portsmouth Secondary School emerged winners and received $1,000 and a trophy. In the upper secondary level, the St. Mary’s Academy won the competition, and was also awarded $1,000 and a trophy. The Math Power Contest, which is organized by the Ministry of Education & Human Resource Development, in collaboration with the National Bank of Dominica, is designed to generate interest in mathematics among primary and secondary school students.
