Magistrate says many still depend on children/parent likeness instead of using DNA as proof of Paternity
Magistrate Gloria Septra Augustus says while DNA is the most definitive proof of a child’s Paternity, many still depend on the archaic notion that a child must look like their parent. She continued saying that human beings tend to do strange things for benefit, such as claiming fathers for citizenship papers or otherwise.
Augustus stated that child support has to be paid until the age of fifteen, and going up to the age eighteen, if the child is still in school, and can even be a lifetime commitment with a disabled child.
She encouraged those unsure of the paternity of a child to get a DNA to avoid any complications further down the line especially when child support is involved.
