Manager Jean Williams confirms Douglas Charles Airport reopened this morning after shut down due to flooding Tuesday
Manager of the facility, Jean Williams revealed that the Douglas Charles Airport was flooded, and was shut down due to heavy rainfall on Tuesday.
However, the airport was reopened this morning. An extensive clean-up project commenced in the early hours of Wednesday 16th March 2016, after 75% of the debris was cleared.
Williams said “The condition of the airport is much improved over the situation that existed this morning. The river had overflowed its banks on Tuesday and deposited water and mud in the building”.
Williams says heavy equipment from a contractor and fire officers are on site in case the need arises for any further assistance.
