The underperformance of boys at the Grade Six National Assessment has been a concern shared by the Ministry of Education for a number of years now, and Education Minister, Petter St. Jean, says they are continuing to work with schools to improve achievement levels among boys.
He says among the initiatives being taken by the Ministry are training of teachers to respond to challenges of delivering instructions which can stimulate interest of males and the implementation of the early learners program. This program seeks to address the issue of poor performance in English language and mathematics from the early primary level.
