In June 2022, The Dominica State College and the World University Service of Canada Inc (WUSC Caribbean) (Dominica) Inc., signed a sub-project agreement to launch the Mentorship/ National Volunteer Program. Under the Sustainable Agriculture in the Caribbean (SAC) project, which is funded by Global Affairs Canada, they are working in partnership with the Ministry of the Blue & Green Economy, Agriculture, and National Food Security. The six-week Mentorship/ National Volunteer Program, commenced on 27th June, 2022, where twenty-three (23), DSC Agriculture students were assigned to a specific placement organization or group, which includes producer organizations and agricultural-related organizations. Speaking at the Closing Ceremony at the Dominica State College this morning, Dr. Kyra Paul, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, said that she is elated by the approach taken by WUSC, since the tradition and values of self-help have been the pillars of growth in the Agricultural Sector for years, and that is in the makeup of the Dominican People.
