National Athlete Dennick Luke has been drawn in heat 5 in the men's 800-meter event as he begins his quest for Olympic Glory on Friday.
Luke who hails from the town of Portsmouth has been training as a student athlete Jamaica for the past year.
The men's 800-meter event at the Tokyo Olympics will begin at 8:50pm Friday July 30th Caribbean Time.
Luke however is scheduled to run at about 9:22pm Friday July 30th Caribbean Time.
He has been drawn in Heat 5, in total there are 6 heats in the 800-meter event.
The first 3 in each heat qualify and the next 6 fastest runners advance to the Semi-finals.
Luke has made steady progress in the 800-meter event, winning races in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic in the lead up to the Olympics.
He holds a personal best time of 1:49:08 (1 minute, 49.08 seconds) which was set earlier this year at a track event in Jamaica.
