National Security Minister says Gov’t can help Fmr DPP Gene Pestaina on grounds of compassion12/9/2016 National Security Minister, Rayburn Blackmoore, says consistent with the mantra of the DLP Administration to assist those in need, they are willing to assist Former DPP Gene Pestaina on compassionate grounds, once the request is made.
The Former DPP, who is critically ill, has called on the Government to grant him his due pension and gratuity. But addressing media Friday, Attorney General Levi Peter said while Pestaina is receiving a pension under the Police Pension Act, he did not serve long enough in the police force, to receive a pension under the Police Pension Act. Blackmoore says Pestaina has been an inspiration to a number of persons in the Police Force, including himself, and the Government is willing to assist him, given his current predicament.
