Now is the time to get back to our true cultural identity and start recognizing ourselves as “Waitukubuli”, as the first step in finding ourselves.
That’s according to Environmental Activist Ms Farah Theodore. She spoke to Q95 journalists on the current Socio-economic & socio-cultural environment and disposition and expressed the view that what is needed now is a concerted effort to get back to where we were 30 years ago.
She contends that this notion of “getting back to where we were” creates the imagery of us moving backwards rather than forward, buta reasonable first step would be to reassess our sense of self-Identity.
The need to change our lifestyles, adapting our economy, and creating a sort of local people empowerment movement in our societies is one that needs to be implemented, says Theodore.
