Plans are reportedly underway for an enhanced early warning system, which will provide information to the general public before, during and immediately after a disaster.
Disaster Risk Management Consultant Cecil Shillingford made the announcement during a recent press conference.
Shillingford says as of now, a lot of the early warning systems; weather, seismic and others go to the media, then the media informs the general public.
He says a more advanced system will be put in place so information can be provided to the general public almost in real time.
Shillingford says his department will also be looking at the finalization of disaster legislation.
