Ophthalmologist calls on employers to become sensitized on modifications within the workplace to encourage employment of the blind
Ophthalmologist, Dr. Hazel Shillingford-Ricketts, says there is a need for employers here to become more sensitized on adjustments in the workplace which would encourage and assist blind persons in getting gainfully employed.
She says while blindness is a disability, this disability is the consequence of the barriers created by society.
According to Dr. Shillingford- Ricketts, while there is a rehabilitation officer for the blind to assist them in living independently, there is a need to re-establish means for them to get gainfully employed.
