Opposition Leader Lennox Linton wants the DLP Government to resign, as more Diplomatic Passport fiascos surface, and international attention on Dominica intensifies, with the arrest of Iranian Fugitive Alireza Monfared, Chairman of My Dominica Trade House, who was appointed as Dominica’s Diplomat and issued a Dominican Diplomatic Passport. Monfared is now in custody in Iran facing allegations of Embezzlement.
The United Workers Party held a massive mobilization meeting in Lagon last night, against the sale of Dominica’s Diplomatic Passports to shady characters. Hundreds of concerned Dominicans showed up to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the program.
Linton and others have called for a full public inquiry and forensic investigation into the operation of the Citizenship By Investment (CBI) Program.
Addressing supporters at a meeting in Lagoon on Thursday night, he said the United Workers Party (UWP) plans protest action in the coming days on that matter.
He said, “We want an immediate end to the sale of Dominica’s Diplomatic Passports, we are not negotiating that, we want it to happen, we want it to happen now. We want a full public inquiry and a forensic investigation into the operation of Dominica’s CBI Program from 1995. And we want the Government to stop this business of paying huge multi-million dollar commissions to a marketer of the CBI Program, when Marigot has no hospital, when the people of Dominica have no jobs, when they cannot correct the wave overtopping problem at Melville Hall, but they say that they have CBI money. So we will protest. It is time for action.
