Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton, has called on the Dominican Government to make a humanitarian contribution to the Government and people of Venezuela immediately.
This call comes at a time when the South American country slides into crisis. Currently, people across the country lack access to food and basic healthcare. At times, they can't even turn on the lights, the government has said as the country's hydroelectric capabilities has been hampered by extreme drought.
Linton, says Dominica has benefited tremendously from the Venezuelan Government and it is surprising that there has been no statement made on the issue from the Minister with responsibility for Petro Caribe or the Dominican Government.
He suggests that this humanitarian aid to Venezuela should be no less than EC$1 million and it should be sourced from funds derived from the Citizenship by Investment Program.
