Petite Savanne MP denies claims that Government has left displaced residents 'out in the wilderness'7/14/2016 Petite Savanne MP, Dr. Kenneth Darroux, is on the defensive against claims that the DLP Government has left residents displaced by TS Erika 'out in the wilderness'. Darroux says so far, the Government has spent thousands of dollars in rent assistance for these residents, while still providing displacement allowances to tem. Not denying that there have been hiccups in dealing with the situation of the hundreds displaced following the storm, which left the island with a reported 1.2 Billion Dollar reconstruction bill, Dr. Darroux says the DLP Government continues to provide for these citizens. The Government of Dominica says in June 2016, it signed a contract with Montreal Management Consultants Est (MMCE) for the building of houses for the resettlement of Petite Savanne residents. Meanwhile, works are said to be nearing completion for the resettlement of Dubique residents.
