The Dominica Cooperative Societies League yesterday announced the appointment of Phoenix Belfield, to the post of General Manager.
Mr. Belfield is an economist with training in Management, and was the Manager with responsibilities for the General Operations of Cabrits Agencies and M&R Trading Ltd. Mr. Belfield has served voluntarily over the last six years at the Central Cooperative Credit Union Ltd, in capacities of Chairman of the Strategic & Investment Committee, Chairman of the Credit Committee, and many other sub-committees. He will now be responsible for the overall operations of the League.
DCSLL’s Chairman, Murphy Wallace said Mr. Belfield’s leadership acumen and managerial skills, as well as his familiarity with the operations of the Credit Union movement in Dominica, made him an ideal choice for the role. He added, “Mr. Belfield is a strategic thinker, and will bring a wealthof knowledge, gravitas, skills and experience to the league, at a time when Credit Unions all over the country are pursuing innovative ways to enhance the member experience, whilst stimulating growth and development of the various unions”.
Mr. Belfield explained that while he is honoured to be chosen to lead the league at a time like this, he is cognisant of the myriads of challenges that are affecting credit unions, and will “seek to engage all stakeholders involved, with a view to preserving the tradition values and role of the credit union, whilst still finding innovative solutions for enhancing our capacity to meet the challenge of constant change.”
Phoenix Belfield officially took up office on Monday, January 2, 2017.
