PM Skerrit says OECS citizens are not showing sufficient appreciation for the Islands environment5/5/2016 Meanwhile, speaking at the 3rd meeting of OECS Environmental Sustainable Ministers at the Fort Young Hotel in Dominica, since the revised treaty of Basseterre came into effect, Prime Minister said OECS citizens are not showing enough appreciation for the environment. The 2-day meeting is focuses mainly on discussions surrounding ocean governance, water resource management, energy and climate change, in addition to other policy issues related to environmental sustainability, and natural disasters pertaining to small island developing states. Mr. Skerrit says OECS leaders are way ahead of their citizens as regards advocating on the importance of the environment and climate change.
