Finance Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says the $18million being spent on importing produce could remain in Dominica and be used to create sustainable jobs, particularly in rural parts of the country.
The PM was responding to criticisms by the opposition over the national abattoir.
Skerrit says his government is seeking to reduce on the monies being spent or exported out of Dominica. He is also calling on more persons to come on board in supporting government's decision to support local.
