Government wants a change in the definition of "single parent households."Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says when persons talk about homes, single mother households receive emphasis because they are more prevalent in society. However, he notes that there are a number of men who are single parents, stating that they should also be acknowledged.
Dominica joined the rest of the world on Thursday in observing International Men's Day. The theme for this year's observance was ‘Promoting Positive Conversation about Men, Manhood & Masculinity.’

Meanwhile, Minister for Gender Affairs Dr Adis King says it is time to engage in dialogue for far too long boys and men have been governed by rigid expectations, and characteristics of what it means to be a man.
Meantime, King says negative ideas and conversations of manhood are harmful to men, boys and society as a whole.
