Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Environment, Helen Royer, says source reduction must continue to be sustained however she says improper waste disposal still poses a problem. Mrs. Royer has issued a call for the ministry to produce a structured system by which the public is able to dispose of their white goods properly. This comes after a national clean-up campaign last week, generated some 800 tonnes of waste. Meanwhile, Ms Royer says she would like to see the ministry of health and environment along with the community, take a little more responsibility for the care of unassisted shut-in senior citizens. Royer believes that caring for these citizens can prevent the build-up of unnecessary debris.
