Psychologist, Dr. Triphi Margaret Wallace, elaborated on the subject of the rise in homicides in our society. She said we are not exceptional, but we were formerly unique in claiming these things don't occur in Dominica. As time passes, we shift, transform, & take on new identities. It can change for the better or worse, depending on the situation. She acknowledged that many young people are experiencing marginalization & agreed with the discussion's assertion that belonging to a group or gang gives one a sense of independence and connection. "From this arises a lot of pain that is being manifested into action; high-level action with murder being the ultimate step," said Dr. Wallace. She continued by saying that it represents a level of breakdown for us, and that you cannot ignore it. It's something that we all need to admit, and understand that it will hurt, and therefore must bedealt with,in order to fix. Psychologist, Dr. Triphi Margaret Wallace.
