Rotary Club of Dominica Opens Applications for Major Earle Johnson Memorial Scholarship…. Date: August 28, 2026

The Rotary Club of Dominica invites suitably qualified students to apply for the Major Earle Johnson Memorial Scholarship, established in honour of the late Charter President & Past District Governor, Major Earle Johnson, who Major devoted much of his life to public service, beginning his civil service career in 1960 before expanding his contribution through community service and entrepreneurship. 

As a founding member of the Rotary Club of Dominica, he played a lead role in initiatives that supported healthcare, education and youth development on the island. The scholarship is open to students who demonstrate academic achievement & leadership potential, come from low-income households, enrolled in Form 4 at a recognized secondary school in Dominica & are active members of the Dominica Cadet Corps. 

Applicants must also maintain a minimum grade of C in all subjects and submit a completed application form, an acceptance or enrollment letter from their secondary school, two reference letters—one academic and one from the Dominica Cadet Corps—and, where possible, proof of financial need.Recipients of the scholarship will receive an annual award of EC$3,000, paid in two installments each year. 

Students must maintain at least a grade C in all subjects and complete a minimum of 40 hours of community or social activity during each academic year in Forms Four and Five. Those who are not promoted to Form Five will lose the scholarship.Renewal for the second year will depend on the student's academic performance, behaviour, character and promotion to Form Five.
