Salisbury MP, Hector John, says comments made by PM Skerrit in relation to bananas put out for sale at Melville Hall recently, indicate that the Government has failed at managing the Black and Yellow Sigatoka disease.
Recently, some farmers of the North-east took to the streets in an attempt to find sale for their produce which they claim Government had failed to obtain markets for. But addressing the Belles Farmers Cooperative recently, PM Skerrit said the issue with obtaining sale for that produce was not about the lack of markets but rather the quality of the produce. He said the bananas were affected by the Yellow and Black Sigatoka disease. John says these statements by the Prime Minister confirm that they have failed at managing the disease.
