UWP Senator, Dr. Thompson Fontaine, has denied rumours that a meeting of the party's executive tonight is aimed at ousting Roseau South MP, Joshua Francis as Deputy Leader. Dr. Fontaine says this meeting is geared at engaging the constituents of Roseau South in a bid to educate them on the constitution of the party and the way forward. This meeting follows a first call by party officials for Mr. Francis' resignation in light of recent allegations against him. He says the party's Executive has simply acted in what they believe is in the best interest of the party. While some say the Opposition may have handled the situation wrongly, Dr. Fontaine says it was important for the party to disentangle itself from serious allegations levelled against one of its senior members.
